Toxicology Program
Random toxicology/UDS tests are a critical aspect of the WVMPHP monitoring program used to document compliance with wellbeing, abstinence and recovery. A toxicology/UDS monitoring system implemented for participants assists in establishing a position of compliance for agencies such as licensure boards or other regulatory agencies. The basic standard shall be urine and PEth testing, though hair, breath or other body fluids may be indicated.

Monitoring
Upon successful completion of treatment the Practitioner enters into a “Monitoring Agreement”. The monitoring agreement is based on the final treatment aftercare and return to work recommendations. WVMPHP monitoring enables healthcare practitioners to return to work as soon as possible all the while enhancing public safety.

WVMPHP monitoring agreements are individualized; mental health agreements range from 1-3 years in duration while primary substance use disorders can range from 6-months to 2-years for mild and up to 5 years for moderate and severe disorders.

Monitoring agreements may include components such as random toxicology testing, attendance at 12-step based or other mutual support groups and/or Caduceus meetings, workplace monitors and following up with treatment providers as recommended by the treatment team discharge plan, such as seeing a psychiatrist, counselor and primary care physician (PCP).
