West Virginia Medical Professionals Health Program

Referrals

The WV Medical Professionals Health Program encourages & accepts self-referrals. Self-referrals are well received and highly recommended, as preemptively seeking assistance demonstrates a willingness to address a potential issue before patient care is potentially impacted. Medical Professionals can self-refer to the WVMPHP and remain anonymous to their licensure board, provided they follow direction, have not already been reported to their licensure board, have legal consequences and are not a danger to themselves or others. We also accept referrals from hospitals, employers, staff, colleagues, family, friends, treatment facilities, licensure boards, or other state physician health programs.

Who can make referrals:

  • Hospitals
  • Employers
  • Colleagues
  • Staff
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Treatment facilities
  • Healthcare Providers
  • Licensure Boards
  • Training Institutions
  • Other State Licensure Boards
  • Other State Physician Health Programs

*Anyone with a concern can make a confidential referral to the WVMPHP.
*All referral sources are kept as strictly confidential to the maximum extend provided by law.

If you are in need of assistance and guidance…..or if you suspect potential impairment of a physician, podiatrist, physician assistant, medical student or resident….. or you have concerns for their safety or the safety of their patients, please do not hesitate to contact us. All calls are CONFIDENTIAL.
